Good to see the new season's scribes under way...a few other brief
observations from N1:

In addition to his heroic efforts with bat and ball, Chris made a bid for 2
more Weekenders' records yesterday : most bowel movements on match day before
start of play; and worst dropped catch in memory (call Chris himself for full
details on either of these). No word yet on whether he's been able to walk
today.

If the ball that our skipper claimed a wicket with was a yorker, my name is
Glenn McGrath....

Flat Pete deserves an honourable mention for impressive improvisation on the
scorebook front - proving that the journalist's notebook does occasionally
have a purpose.

Ritual burning of team kit(bag) scheduled for later this week in Islington -
contact me if you want to take part...

If the "Hogben H" down to play next week is my old uncle Hugo, don't expect
too much of a contribution by way of runs or wickets, though he does a mean
John Arlott impression.

P.S. Not sure everyone's on this e-mail distribution list. Maybe Skipper and
HonSec could compare with their databases ?
