ROEHAMPTON FALL FOUL OF FATHERS DAY FESTIVAL

A 6 wicket win featured an aged seamer bowling through the innings at one end, supported up the hill by former county cricketer Bobby Willis who once carried the drinks for Sussex. In the field there were some artistic mime impressions of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a promising debut toad from Paddy.

The big event of the day though was an astonishing chanceless 88* from Hargroves. Unfortunately the surgeon of slap wasn't able to relish his triumph because everybody had either left by the time he struck the winning runs or they drove off immediately afterwards to attend other Fathers' Day engagements.

So Doctor Tonk sat alone on Putney Heath bench with just a can of Stella to banter with.
