WEEKENDERS STORM THE NATIONAL

The Weekenders failed to lose against the National Theatre on Sunday, despite starting the game with 6 men.

Good opening spells by Dibley and D'Inverno were followed by magnificent match winning fivefer by late comer Michael Harvey restricting the National to just 121. If he'd turned up on time it could have been all over by teatime.

The National's keeper was heard to bemoan the way his colleagues gave it away, pointing out how many had been caught playing loose shots. He had previously made a fine demonstration of how the game SHOULD be played by being bowled for nought.

Despite the glaring opportunity to snatch defeat, Weekenders batsmen held firm with Hickman and Bowman taking the shine off before Cooper took the game away from the opposition with muscular 61 not out.

The team were then deprived of leadership skills of the Skipper who had to rush off and write a speech. This led to remaining 9 weekenders driving around Eltham in convoy for 20 minutes whilst failing to find opposition pub.
