ARSE-NIPPER AT BEDALE

Arkadin CC 89 all out

WCC  90-9

WCC won by 1 wicket

An epic account of this match (with photos) can be found at  www.arkadincc.co.uk. Briefly though...

Opening the Weekenders bowling with Dibley was a lively right-arm seamer called AJ. To the understandable dismay of the Arkadin captain who'd found him for us, AJ took a bowled hat-trick in his second over. The rest of his spell wasn't quite so devastating but Dibley kept running in gamely at the other end to take his first four-fer of the season.

The Weekenders made a steady start until McDonald was run out at the non-striker's end when a dropped c&b chance smashed into the stumps. Thereafter it was a matter of survival as the Arkadin bowlers found some awkward lift. Rice ripped out the Enders middle order with Cooper, Brockis and White all caught off their gloves fending at well-directed bouncers. After an entertaining exhibition of hooking and ducking the Weekenders found themselves 75 for nine. The last wicket pair employed a range of swats, biffs and 360 degree turns to get the 15 runs needed.

Nice pub.
