WCC v Bromley Town 2.6.13

Bromley 152-9

WCC  89

Bromley won by 63 runs

After last year's successful foray into charity cricket, we returned to play in aid of 'Kids in Kathmandu'. The home side batted first and were reduced by a rampant Dibley to 27 for 6. It was a rare opportunity for the Weekenders to close down a game and get to the bar early.  But with raffle stalls and photos of Nepalese children being erected round the boundary in expectation of a full day's fund-raising, Captain d'Inverno had no option but to release the stranglehold. The hosts closed on 152-9. Our batting, with the exceptions of Fox and Shimoga, was similarly charitable. The game raised over £700, much of which came from sales of signed (though indistinct) photos of Tony Smee in 'Return of the Jedi'.
