Not much analysis required here - on a freezing day in Oxfordshire, the hosts batted first, scoring at 5.7 per over, on a slow / low pitch. Eschewing the normal ‘timed-game’ fixture, the oppo requested a 35-over format, perhaps favouring their strong outfit by eradicating the possibility of a draw.  There were more grumbles in the ranks about some nicks behind which weren’t given out by the opposition umpires. The ‘Enders batters were bundled out for 34, as low a score as I can recall in the last 10 years, with Austin recording 7-3-5-3. WCC legend, Martin Bowen offered most resistance, but this year there could be no hunkered draws.
