Unison 13.6.23

WCC/Ad Hoc won by 43 runs.

We formed an alliance with our friends Ad Hoc CC in order to raise a side for this T20 at Parliament Hill Fields – where the Weekenders played their very first game in 1975.

WCC/Ad Hoc stormed to 166 off our twenty overs, with two Weekenders (McCallum and Carter) compulsorily retired. Freddy Carter’s impressive debut knock for the ‘Enders boosted the run rate with classy cuts and stealthy dabs. McCallum kept finding the gaps and Brockis was downright brutal.

The hosts’ top order played elegantly in reply, but they were pegged back early, and every time they looked like seizing the initiative, they lost a wicket. Our bowling was a winning mix of the tempting and the tight, McCallum dominant with the ball as he had been with the bat. Unison’s heavyweight hitter was just getting going when Skipper Husaini moved himself to the deep mid-wicket boundary and miraculously held on to a murderous pull off McCallum. It proved decisive and Unison never got back in the game.
